About the Opportunities

For over 167 years, Yalumba has been providing opportunities for local people to join our team for vintage, to learn about winery and wine making operations and to make an important contribution to our wines.

Yalumba now has multiple opportunities for Cellar Hands to join their team based in The Barossa, on a casual basis. 

These positions will comprise of 12 hour shifts 6 days a week during the peak of vintage, and will involve indoor and outdoor work. Ideally you will have worked in a cellar, manufacturing or agriculture / horticulture, however this is not essential. 

Day to day responsibilities of a Cellar Hand may include (but may not be limited to):

  • Crushing and pressing grapes;
  • Actively managing the fermentation processes;
  • Making additions to the wine; and
  • Setting up equipment and transferring wine. 

Yalumba is also seeking Laboratory Technicians to join their team on a casual basis, working indoors. These roles will suit either individuals with experience working in a laboratory setting, or school leavers who have excellent attention to detail and an aptitude for chemistry. Day and afternoon shift work and some weekend work will be required.

Both of the above positions require team players who are able to work well with others in order to successfully complete the task at hand. You'll also need to be a self-starter with a great attitude! 

Your ability to pick up tasks and learn quickly will be vital to your success, as will your ability to operate in a smart and safe manner. Additionally, basic computer and mathematical skills will come in handy.

Vintage will commence in early January and finish in April. Applicants must be available for the whole of this period.
